When do you need a Legal DNA Paternity Test?

A legal paternity case is collected in accordance with the guidelines from the Family Law Court Act 1975. . A Legal paternity case is required for Family Court matters, Child Support Agency, and for changes to the names on a birth certificate. A Legal DNA test consists of a legal affidavit, DNA collection by an authorised collector, and secure ‘chain of custody’ transport of the samples. DNA QLD has access to over 400 pathology collection facilities in Australia. Overseas collections can be done upon request.
DNA QLD will coordinate the legal affidavit and the DNA collection by an authorised collector. The samples are processed at DNA QLD’s Brisbane NATA accredited facility by a Family Law Court reporting scientist. Samples are processed with a DNA sequencer with the results of a paternity inclusion to 99.9999% or exclusion of 100%.
